Year 9s go on a blind date – with a book!

Year 9s have been marking Valentine’s Day by going on a blind date – with a book! Students were asked to choose a book from home, wrap it up and write the first sentence on the front of the package. They will be taking part in a book ‘speed dating’ session during English lessons where they will get to read the first lines on the wrapping paper to help them choose a new book to take home. Students are being encouraged not to judge a book by its cover and to try something new, even if it would not be a book they would normally choose. It could just open up a whole new genre of books that they might never have discovered.
