Year 7s visit Manchester Jewish Museum

Thirty five of our Year 7 students visited the Manchester Jewish Museum to enhance their knowledge of the Jewish faith, which they are currently studying in Philosophy and Ethics. They visited the oldest synagogue in Manchester, where they demonstrated fantastic knowledge of the key features, really impressing the museum's education officer.

The day was highly interactive - our students made challah bread out of clay, which is eaten during Shabbat, the Jewish weekly holy day. They also sampled food, such as matzot, the flat breads eaten during the festival of Passover, which has been remembered by Jewish communities for over 4,000 years.

Our students further got to appreciate the history surrounding Jewish faith and culture by exploring the museum’s many artefacts belonging to the Jewish peoples who have made Manchester their home since the 18th century.
