Year 7s create brilliant ‘Live Theatre’ projects

Our Year 7s have been studying the topic of ‘Live Theatre’ in their Drama lessons. Students watched ‘Shrek the Musical’ and then discussed the elements that make up a live piece of musical theatre, including vocal and physical skills, staging and set design, costume and analysing the plot and themes within it.

As part of this topic work, the students then received a range of creative, fun and educational tasks to choose from for their homework project. They could select to design a costume or set, make a podcast reviewing the show, write an evaluation or even make a stop motion animation of a scene. Mrs Bramwell and Mrs Walker were hugely impressed by the standard of the projects they received and the creativity, effort and enthusiasm that has clearly gone into them.

Mrs Bramwell, Head of Drama, said:

“We were amazed by the quality. All students showcased and shared their work with their whole class which was an enjoyable and fun lesson. Students who received an 'Exceptional' in their homework feedback also received an email home to congratulate them on 'Making a difference'.”
