Year 7s buzz for books

Our Year 7s have been busy writing book reviews for a Bookbuzz library competition. To enter, they had to take home their new book, read and enjoy it, and then write a short review to tell others what they thought about it. They could also submit artwork as part of their entry. Mrs Dobson, our school librarian, was really pleased with the hard work students put into their entries and the library received some beautifully designed front covers.

Bookbuzz is a reading programme from BookTrust which works to help schools encourage young people aged 11 to 13 to read for pleasure. Students get to choose a free book from a list of 17 titles which are carefully chosen for their quality and to inspire a love of reading.

The five winning students who will take home prizes, including books, book vouchers and tasty treats, are Peter B, Rachel C, Lucy S, Sophia W and Lucas P – congratulations and enjoy!

We would also like to say a big thank you to the local companies who contributed towards the purchase of our new books: Rubicon Watches, Clover Chemicals, Elliot Simmonds, Marketing & Insight Consultant, Mac Burnham Butchers, JS Burgess Engineering, Chapel Chippy, F R Somerset, Street Crane, The Trike Guy, Tarmac and Booktrust.
