Year 11 mock interviews with local employers

Our Careers Programme aims to get students ready for post-16 and the world of work beyond school. All of our Year 11s had a mock interview with a local employer before the half term break to help them to prepare and practise for future interviews.

We invited senior staff from local companies to hold the interviews, giving our students experience of a real interview situation. The interviewers from Nestlé Waters, Swizzels Matlow Limited and Tarmac were extremely impressed with how our students conducted themselves and the quality of their answers to some difficult questions. The employers followed each interview with some feedback to help students to understand what went well and what they might need to improve on for the future on e.g. maintaining eye contact, good body language and being ready to ask their own questions.

Some of our students were nervous about going for an interview, as we would expect, but all of them did so well and left feeling very positive about the whole experience. Well done Year 11, you should be very proud of yourselves. And a big thank you to the local employers who made our students feel more comfortable and confident about their future interviews.
