What a week for sport!

We are always very proud of the achievements of our sporting students and the start of this term has been no exception. They have been taking part in a huge range of sports activities, obtaining some excellent results at local, county and national levels. Here is a summary of their achievements:

Indoor Athletics

Huge congratulations to our Year 7 girls, Year 8 boys and Year 8 girls Indoor Athletics teams who won the High Peak competition! They have now qualified for the county finals which is fantastic. Success continued in the county finals with the Year 8 boys picking up silver, the Year 8 girls winning bronze and our Year 7 girls finishing fourth in the county! We clearly have some very talented Year 8s, well done.

Netball

Our Year 11 girls’ team went to Hope Valley College for the High Peak netball competition where they played exceptionally well and won the tournament! What a great way to end their final year at school, well done girls. Miss Milne was very impressed with the team, who have showed outstanding attitude in their time competing for Chapel.

We also hosted the Year 8s netball competition, entering two teams who finished brilliantly in first and third place. Team 8a team were amazing, winning all their games, scoring a total of 55 goals and conceding just the one - wow!

Football

As our Year 8 boys await their opponent in the semi-final of the Derbyshire Cup, the girls’ teams took part in the High Peak 6-a-side competitions. We hosted the U16 competition and managed to claim the trophy on a cold but sunny evening! Mr Marsh also took the U13 team over to Buxton Community School and was very impressed with how the girls played on their way to winning the silver medal!

Golf

Four of our Year 11 students, Fraser H, Ollie W, Lewis D and Ollie S, went to Chevin Golf Club for the Derbyshire Golf team final. The boys played some excellent golf and came away with the trophy! This is the first Chapel team to win the competition and we are very proud. The boys will now represent Derbyshire in the national finals at the prestigious Woodhall Spa course in Lincoln. Not only that, Fraser and Ollie S qualified to play in the county individual finals, we wish them the best of luck!

Table Tennis

Our impressive Year 10 GCSE PE student, Joseph C, recently took part in the English Schools Table Tennis individual finals at Wolverhampton. Joe, who was eighth seed, managed to take the silver medal! After his excellent performance, Joe has been selected to represent England in the Senior Schools International at the University of Galway in Ireland. Well done Joe, this is a brilliant achievement.
