Welcome to our new Year 7s!

It has been wonderful to welcome our new Year 7 students into school. They have been getting to know their tutor groups and it has been lovely to see them making lots of new friends. Year 7s have been excited about going into different lessons in a wide range of subjects, and have been making a great impression on their subject teachers. They have settled in brilliantly and we are very proud of how they have taken to secondary school life.

On their first morning, our new Year 7s met in their house groups where they were then collected by a member of their tutor group and welcomed by their new tutors. Our tutor groups are made up of students in years 7 to 10 which gives our new students the opportunity to get to know older students and really helps them to settle into the Chapel High community. During tutor time they received their very first secondary school timetables and learnt about school life, including break and lunchtime routines, uniform and equipment, and how to organise their homework.

Year 7s then attended a special welcome assembly with headteacher, Mr Raynor, which covered our expectations of them, how the school day works and all the support available to them to ensure they enjoy secondary school life and achieve their very best.

Thanks to the fun transition sessions that many of them attended before the summer, lots of our new students already felt familiar with the school building and their new teachers which was great to see.

Headteacher, Greg Raynor, said,

“Welcoming new Y7s to secondary school is always an exciting time.  We have been really impressed with how our new students have engaged with their learning and have demonstrated our key values of respect, resilience and being ready to learn.”
