Students practise their French in Paris

In the summer term students from Years 7 to 10 travelled by coach and ferry to Paris for three days of sight-seeing and activities designed to help them practise their French language skills. It was an exciting time to be in the city as it prepared to host the Olympic Games, and the group took a boat ride down the Seine along the same route that would be used for the opening ceremony. They passed Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower as well as many of the famous bridges and key Parisian cultural and political buildings.

On foot, the students explored the capital city, taking in the sites of the Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Élysées, Sacré Coeur and Montmartre. On the second day the group travelled to the Château de Fontainebleau where they went on a tour of the beautiful castle and gardens. They also visited the town of Fontainebleu where they were able to do some shopping and practise their French skills. Lots of students bought baguettes!

Staff were very proud of how the 36 students conducted themselves on the trip and their behaviour throughout was outstanding.

Miss Wallhouse, teacher of languages, said:

"It was such an exciting time to visit the beautiful city of Paris, being just a month before they hosted the Olympic Games! I was so impressed by all the students we took away, they coped with the chaos of a busy capital city really well and made the most out of their visit. À la prochaine fois, Paris!"
