Our GCSE Hospitality and Catering students were treated to a free delivery of fresh rope-grown mussels last week! This is part of the ‘Fish in School Hero’ programme which aims to ensure that children get to prepare, cook and eat fresh fish at secondary school. Students are encouraged to learn about where fish comes from, sustainability, seasonality and how to use it to prepare nutritious meals.
This is a brilliant opportunity for our students to use fresh produce which they might not otherwise get to cook with due to budget and availability issues. Mrs Wicks, our Hospitality and Catering teacher, is very excited to see what delicious dishes our Year 10s are going to come up with!
