We invited RAF Sergeant Johnny Miller into school to host a careers assembly for our year 9s. Students learned all about the role of the Royal Air Force and the range of aviator and aircrew specialisations available. Johnny also told the group about the benefits of joining the RAF, the structure of the recruitment process and the apprenticeship routes on offer.
After the assembly, we held a ‘Careers Café’ for students in year 10s and 11 who had expressed an interest in training with the RAF. Students had a one-to-one 15-minute appointment with Johnny where they discussed the job roles they were considering, what the training is like and where a career in the RAF could take them. They also had the opportunity to ask any questions and learned about the RAF App and how they can continue to research the roles at home.
A big thank you to Johnny for helping and advising our older students on potential career routes, and for giving our year 9s a good insight into the role of the RAF.
