Our Careers Programme aims to prepare students for a successful life after school, ensuring that they know about the wide range of post-16 options available to them. In September we held a Post-16 Evening for our Year 11 students and their parents. We invited over 20 colleges, sixth forms and local employers to exhibit in a careers fair. Students and parents had the opportunity to meet each of the post-16 providers and ask questions about their courses, apprenticeships and training. They were also able to pick up information and materials to take home to carry out their own research.
Parents attended a talk given by our Assistant Head, Mrs Dunn, and a local post-16 provider where they learnt more about the different types of qualifications and levels, where these options could lead to in the future and the application process.
The event was a great success and our students had some brilliant conversations about the different things they would like to do when they leave school. They also learnt about what they will need to do to achieve these goals and the grades they will need to attain next year. Ultimately this experience will help them to make their final decisions about post-16 as they start to make their applications to colleges, training and apprenticeship providers.
We would like to say a big thank you to all of the exhibitors who came along to support this event:
