The Chapel High Careers programme is designed to prepare students for life after leaving school. We work to ensure that they understand the range of options available to them at post-16. Our annual Post-16 Information Evening is a one-stop-shop for Year 11s and their parents to speak to over 20 colleges and sixth forms, and to local employers who will be offering apprenticeships to school leavers.
The evening began with a presentation from our Assistant Headteacher, Mrs Dunn, and a local college, where parents learnt more about the different types of qualifications and levels on offer, where these options could lead to in the future, and how the application processes work. After the talk, students and parents had the opportunity to visit each of the post-16 providers’ stalls to ask questions and find out more about their courses, apprenticeships and training opportunities. They were also able to pick up information and materials to take home to carry out their own research.
Students learnt about course entry requirements and the skills they will need to develop in order to achieve their future careers goals. The post-16 providers were very impressed with how well prepared our Year 11s were and the brilliant questions they asked. This experience will help them to make their final decisions about post-16 education or training as they work to complete their applications to colleges, training and apprenticeship providers this term.
We would like to say a huge thank you to all of the exhibitors who came along to support our event this year:
