Our amazing school musical “Legally Blonde Jr”

Our school musical this year, Legally Blonde Jr, was absolutely fantastic and we are so proud of all of the students involved. The whole cast showed an incredible amount of energy and commitment throughout the rehearsals after school and during October half term. This show is a big challenge as so much of it is sung and the transitions from dorm room to courtroom are extremely swift. Our tech crew worked exceptionally hard organising the props and costumes and also blowing up 100s of balloons for the set!

We were delighted to welcome Year 6s from Chapel and Chinley primary schools to watch a live performance during the day and it was lovely to see them thoroughly enjoying the show. Our evening performances had a real buzz about them and the cast maintained their energy levels right through to the final night which was the most magical of them all.

For members of the cast in Year 11, this was their last show in school and many of them have featured in either a musical or drama production every year since they started in Year 7. All credit to them for combining revision for their mock exams with an intense schedule of rehearsals. It has wonderful to see what positive role models these older students have become and how our younger students are inspired by the talent and work ethic.

“The whole production was a success due to the commitment, maturity and enthusiasm from every member of the cast and crew. What a kind, caring, if noisy! team they were. We loved working with them on such a fun, bubbly show with an important message.”

Proceeds from the production raised funds to support our Music and Drama Departments, with refreshment sales also raising money for enrichment opportunities for students. 

Congratulations to the cast on a truly fabulous show. And a massive thank you to the staff who worked so hard to make this such a memorable, fun and valuable experience for our students.
