Here at Chapel High we work hard to make sure that our students are prepared for life after school, whether that is for a college or university course, an apprenticeship, vocational training or employment. We know that digital skills are absolutely vital for almost every type of job now, therefore we have made sure that digital training is also something that our students have access to. This week will see the launch of the iDEA badges in school, an international award winning programme which can help students develop digital, enterprise and employability skills online.
iDEA stands for Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award and the initiative offers a series of free online challenges which, once completed, will earn students industry-recognised badges. The badges will help to demonstrate to colleges and employers that students have acquired essential digital skills, and they will be useful for them to include on future application forms, CVs and to discuss in interviews.
The iDEA programme offers awards in a number of areas, including social media, coding, online research, e-safety and virtual reality. These are all great skills for students to have, both personally and professionally. The project is being introduced to Year 10s and students will be able to use IT rooms at lunchtime where they can sign up for the online courses and complete them in their own time, with help and advice from Mrs Wood, Head of ICT.
