Celebrating a fantastic set of GCSE results

We were thrilled to learn that our students had achieved such a fantastic set of GCSE results this year. Our school leavers arrived with some trepidation to collect and open their envelope of grades, with many then discovering that they had attained some remarkable results. Indeed, these look like some of the best results the school has ever had.

Headteacher, Simon Grieves, said:

“We are very proud of these young people and what they have achieved. We know how hard they have worked and their results today are very well deserved. They have not had an easy journey through education with the disruption caused by the pandemic, but they impressed us throughout their time in school with their positive attitude and resilience.”

We always aim to provide students with the opportunity to pursue a wide range of option subjects, which goes against the national picture of narrowing curriculum options. This year students have, once again, achieved some very strong grades in three modern foreign languages. There are also some brilliant results in a big variety of creative subjects, as well as brilliant achievements in the core academic subjects.

As a highly inclusive school, we also recognise that success means different things for each of our students. We are very proud of the brilliant cohort of young people who left our Learning Support department this year having developed independent living and employability skills. We are also especially proud of some of our students who had to deal with significant mental and physical health challenges and have still left school with some great qualifications.

Headteacher, Simon Grieves, added:

“We have really enjoyed working with every single one of these young people, I am sure they will go on to do wonderful things.  We wish them all the very best of luck.”
