Book Club members attend DSBA final

Members of our Book Club went along to The University of Derby to attend the Derbyshire Schools’ Book Awards final. The students, who are all in Years 7 and 8, went on a tour of the university library and social hub which got them very excited about the prospect of going to university in the future. They took part in a quiz and competitions and also got to meet Ben Davis, author of ‘The Soup Movement’ and last year’s DSBA award winner. The DSBA 2022 winner was also announced, ‘The Ghost Club’ by Lize Meddings, which our Book Club members had really enjoyed reading.

Students Toby and Nate delivered a brilliant presentation to the other schools about a board game they had created which was inspired by the book ‘The Outlaws Scarlett and Browne’ by Jonathan Stroud. We were very proud of their presentation skills and the audience enjoyed listening to their ideas. All of our Book Club students were impeccably behaved throughout the day and had a great time visiting the university.
