‘Be Kind to Your Mind’ art competition

Mental health is a priority at Chapel High and our new Wellbeing Hub is proving to be a great asset to our school. Students can take part in relaxing activities, seek support or just go along to find a quiet space.

Ms Metcalfe and Ms Layman, who look after the Wellbeing Hub, ran an art competition to raise awareness of how important it is to stay mentally healthy. Tutor Group SCYc won the first round of the competition and were asked to select the slogan for a mural design. They chose: “Be Kind to Your Mind”. For the next stage of the competition, students were then asked to design a mural which will be displayed in school. Their artwork had to be original, created by hand (no computer graphics) and must incorporate this mental health phrase.

All of the entries received were impressive, we clearly have some very talented artists in school. A runner up was chosen from each House - well done to Louisa H, Frankie K, Tessa C and Fulisa H for your brilliant designs. The winning entry was created by Izzy M who produced a beautiful floral mural, congratulations Izzy!

All five students will now get the fantastic opportunity to work with professional mural artist, Georgia Edwards, in her workshop. They will fine-tune their designs and Izzy’s winning artwork will be turned into a mural display in our main dining social area in school.
