The staff of Chapel-en-le-Frith High School are a dedicated team who form strong and positive relationships with students and colleagues alike.
When they suddenly lost one of their own, Maths Teaching Assistant Janet Aspinall on June 18th 2018, the staff and students wanted to remember and honour Janet by raising funds for a charity close to the heart of her family.
With the help of her husband, Alan, the school held 'Janet's Day' on Friday May 3rd 2019 with activities including a maths challenge, a chocolate tombola, a raffle- with prizes donated to the school by staff and local businesses, a bring and buy cake sale and a non uniform day and managed to raise a tremendous £1876, which, at Alan's request, was donated to Cancer Research UK.
Janet's husband commented 'It's unbelievable how much everyone did and how much was raised, I am so touched. I hope Janet knows how much people thought of her to do this, it really is amazing and I cannot thank the school enough- this means a great deal.'
A spokesperson for the school said 'It was great to see everyone working together and raising so much money in tribute to Janet- it just goes to show what these students can achieve when given the opportunity.'
The picture shows Alan Aspinall handing over the cheque to Diane Guy of CRUK Disley, who attended and gave a speech of thanks to the students and staff.
